Lichfield City CC Spring Road Race - 2nd May 2010
In this years race riders faced a cold windy day with rain threatening at the start. The poor conditions made early breakaway attempts a tough prospect and few riders made any great impression on the peloton. As the laps rolled by and legs became tired a group of 4 riders pulled clear and started to build a sizable gap.

Alex dominates first round of Midlands Cross Country Mountain Bike Championships |

Alex Welburn, who was only discovered at the end of last year, demonstrated his ability and future potential by dominating the first round of the Midlands Cross Country Mountain Bike Championships on Sunday. Amazingly in only his first year of racing Alex was electrifying from the start staying with the leading pack as they sprinted up the fire road.

British Schools National Mountain Bike Championships 2009/10 |

A good contingent of Lichfield city cycling clubs young riders recently travelled en masse to the height’s of the pennines to chase the medals at this years British Schools Mountain Bike championship. The event was held in a testing course in true Bronte Country, high above the Yorkshire mill towns, near Howarth. Such was the severity of the course that two riders, Rugeley’s Connor Smith and the Friary’s Isabelle Clarke suffered heavy falls and were unable to complete the course.

Good Club Turnout for Shrewsbury |

The second event in the Paramount series at Shrewsbury took place last week-end (Sat 13th March). Some of the youth category races had large amounts of Lichfield Riders in them and we had some good results.

Lichfield City Cycling Star Emily Nelson wins the girls U14 Category in the National Trophy Series in Derby this week-end while other Lichfield riders gain valuable experience at the national Level.

After the British Championships in June and my selection for the British Team Mid July saw me part of a team of three British men and five women traveling to Tel Aviv in Israel to take part in the 7th World Mountain Bike Orienteering Championships. The events spread over the week consisted of long distance qualifier, middle distance, sprint, relay and long final.
